The UK government is set to fund at least seven catapult centres in an initial round of funding for the scheme, having originally planned just six.
In 2010, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills announced plans to create a network of six of the technology centres from the budget of “at least” £200 million it has assigned to the scheme until 2015. But it now plans to squeeze in one more from the funds.
