St Andrews chemist wins first UK AkzoNobel science award

Peter Bruce, a chemist at the University of St Andrews, has been awarded a £50,000 prize for chemistry and material sciences by global coatings company AkzoNobel.

Bruce was selected by a panel appointed by the Royal Society of Chemistry, where he will officially receive his award. His work involves making lithium batteries last longer and deliver more power and could have an impact on the renewable energy sector.
