Reprieve for Scotland’s women in science centre

Scotland’s first minister Alex Salmond has pledged £600,000 to save the Scottish Resource Centre for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology, after the UK government cut funding for its parent organisation, the UKRC at the end of 2011.

Salmond made the announcement on International Women’s Day on 8 March, saying the centre “supports the success of women in fields of endeavour in which they are significantly underrepresented”.
