Salmond’s US trip boosts research at home

Diabetes-related R&D in Scotland is to receive a £9.53  million boost, following a trade visit by First Minister Alex Salmond to the US. Salmond revealed on 20 June that international firm LifeScan, which specialises in personal medical testing devices, had agreed to expand the work of its base in Inverness. He also announced a stem cell partnership between the University of St Andrews, Heriot-Watt University and Stanford University.
