British Sign Language extends science lexicon
The STEM Disability Committee, established in 2010, has launched a set of British Sign Language signs developed for the STEM curriculum. The 116 signs created by the Scottish Sensory Centre for 11 to 16-year-olds were launched at the Royal Academy of Engineering on 19 June. Phrases previously communicated through finger-spelling and lip-reading—such as light year and X-ray—now have their own signs.
