Pirbright in foot and mouth funding boost
The world reference laboratory for foot and mouth disease at Pirbright, part of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council’s Animal Health Institute, has been awarded $3 million (£1.9m) by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Organisation for Animal Health. The funding will go towards creating a dedicated team at Pirbright that will focus on delivering the aims of the global foot and mouth disease control strategy.
