Home Office reports an overall increase in animal procedures

The number of scientific procedures carried out on animals in the UK increased by 2 per cent in 2011, according to statistics released by the Home Office.

The figures, published on 10 July, show that just over 3.79 million scientific procedures were started in UK in 2011. This is 1.08 m more procedures than in 2000 and 68,100 more than in 2010.
