Wellcome Trust gets tough on open access

The Wellcome Trust confirmed on 28 June that it will introduce penalties for researchers who fail to comply with its open-access publishing requirements. Papers that are not made freely available will not be taken into account as part of a researcher’s track record during future applications to the trust.
