…but science ring fence is safe, claims Cable

Cable has said there is “absolutely no question” of removing the science budget’s ringfence in the next spending review. Science is one of the few ring-fenced budgets and concerns have been mounting that its protection could be removed at the next spending review. Speaking at the launch of his industrial strategy, Cable told Research Fortnight that the government has “honoured [the ring fence] in the spending review and there is absolutely no question of changing that.”
