London Metropolitan University students threatened by loss of visa license

The UK’s London Metropolitan University has had its licence to recruit international students from outside the EU suspended by the UK Border Agency. The decision means that some 2,700 students at the university—of whom 108 are studying for PhDs—face deportation unless they find somewhere else to study by the end of November.

A Home Office statement on 30 August said that London Met’s licence had been revoked because it “failed to address serious and systemic failings that were identified by the UK Border Agency six months ago”.
