MRC is research council with most staff

Questions in the House of Commons have revealed the number of staff employed by the seven research councils. The Medical Research Council employs 4,499 staff. The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council employs 1,688, 304 of whom work in its Swindon office. The Natural Environment Research Council employs 2,589 staff, 294 in Swindon. The Arts and Humanities Research Council employs 82 people and the Economic and Social Research Council employs 140. The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council employs 220 and the Science and Technology Facilities Council 1,750, with 100 in Swindon.
