Social scientists need to engage, says former CSA

“Faux radicalism” is preventing UK social scientists from engaging with the process of government policy making, according to Paul Wiles, former chief scientific adviser to the Home Office.

Wiles, now a visiting professor of criminology at the University of Oxford, was speaking at an event about the use of science and social science in social policy, organised by the Alliance for Useful Evidence and hosted by innovation charity Nesta in London last week.
