Cable confirms London branch for EU patent court

Business secretary Vince Cable has confirmed that one branch of the unified patent court for the European Union will be established in the UK. Under the new system for European patenting, patent owners will be able to defend their rights across the EU at one court in London or at branches in Munich or Paris. This replaces the current rules, under which individual national courts decide on the validity of European patents.
