As the Science Museum prepares its latest blockbuster exhibition on the Large Hadron Collider, due to open this November, thoughts are turning to the identity of the VIP chosen to flip the switch. An invitation to one David Cameron was optimistically dispatched. Number 10, however, apologised on the PM’s behalf, offering instead ‘science chancellor’ George Osborne—now famous for his eight technologies speech at the Royal Society. The museum is yet to respond, we understand.
