SKA increases cost estimates and staff levels

The estimated cost for the first phase of construction of the Square Kilometre Array telescope should be increased to €400 million, the board of directors have agreed.

At a meeting held at the Jodrell Bank headquarters on 30 and 31 January, the directors of the SKA organisation agreed that the 2007 cost estimate of €350m should be increased to take account of inflation.
