DH (NIHR): health technology assessment – commissioned calls

The Department of Health’s National Institute for Health Research invites outline proposals under the commissioned funding stream of its health technology assessment programme.

Proposals for primary research are sought on the following topics: immunisation of children and young people looked after by the state, feasibility of psychosocial interventions for preventing blood borne virus infection in people who inject drugs, peer support for breastfeeding maintenance, a prognostic tool to aid clinical management decisions in acute ankle sprain, prognostic models for people with advanced cancer, suspected acute pulmonary embolism in pregnancy, mechanical insufflation-exsufflation devices for assisted cough in neuromuscular disease, early pulmonary rehabilitation after an exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, interventions to enhance engagement in exercise referral schemes, non-neuroleptic mood stabilising medication for challenging behaviour in adults with intellectual disability, clinical risk scores for suspected ovarian cancer, psychological intervention for post-stroke depression, medical therapy with steroids in treating chronic subdural haematoma, early intervention for people with adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor versus cognitive behavioural therapy for people with generalised anxiety disorder and preoperative smoking-cessation interventions.
