Researchers push for publishing reform

Early-career researchers at the University of Cambridge have criticised what they say is an “exploitative academic publishing system”.

In a letter published on 9 June, the researchers said they were concerned about the transparency, reproducibility, timeliness and academic rigour of the production and dissemination of scholarly outputs.

The letter asked early-career researchers who felt pressured into acting against their ethics in the pursuit of an academic career to join the campaign.
