Internal report shows concern over current visa system and negative impacts of £30k salary threshold
Work by the government’s own chief scientist shows that maintaining the current £30,000 salary threshold for researchers coming to work in the UK will damage universities and businesses, Research Professional News can reveal.
“A £30,000 salary threshold would…likely impact the recruitment of key early- and mid-career science, research and innovation roles,” says an analysis prepared by Government Chief Scientific Adviser Patrick Vallance for science minister Chris Skidmore.
