Higher degree holders more likely to work long hours

More than a quarter of the most qualified graduates work over 48 hours a week

Those with higher degrees are more likely to work unsatisfactory hours than any other group, according to new data from the Office for National Statistics.

Across the UK, only 73.8 per cent of higher degree holders were working satisfactory hours in 2018, which the ONS defines as fewer than 48 hours a week and not wanting to work more. Just over a quarter were working excessive hours.
