What does a BBSRC Follow-on Funding bid need to succeed?
A mainstay of the council’s portfolio, the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council’s Follow-on Funding is intended to help past and present BBSRC awardees translate their research outputs and outcomes into practical applications, including commercialisation and business collaboration.
It comes in two sizes: standard—for projects with costs less than £250,000; and super—for projects costing between £250,000 and £800,000. Over the past four rounds, the combined success rate for these twice-yearly calls has been around 22 per cent. The next round closes on 9 October. Adam Bowen, the council’s
co-head for knowledge exchange, explains how to prepare a good bid.
