Industry leaders have called on the government and education bodies to do more to address the UK’s dwindling supply of chemists.
In an open letter, senior figures from academia and industry have demanded a “clear strategy and action plan” to articulate career opportunities and to excite young people about jobs in chemistry.
The signatories come from the Royal Society of Chemistry, pharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca and chemical companies Johnson Matthey and BASF.
