Forging a social-science research career with less funding
University of Oxford professor Danny Dorling (pictured) is well known beyond his field of human geography thanks to his meticulous analyses of social, wealth and health inequalities around the world.
However, Dorling’s success has been built not on scoring major research grants, but on dedicating his non-teaching time to preparing books and papers and working on low-budget projects with others.
