National Centre for Universities and Business warning comes alongside “positive” employment news from statistics office
UK universities and businesses have warned that “the battle” to avoid major problems in the post-pandemic jobs market has yet to be won, as the latest Office for National Statistics data showed the number of UK workers on payrolls rising by 182,000 between June and July.
Despite the positive news from the ONS, the National Centre for Universities and Business said on 17 August that “with so many workers still using the furlough scheme, now is no time for complacency”.
