Social sciences gender balance better than Stem but still unequal

Academy of Social Sciences report flags persistent gender divides in UK research

The UK’s gender balance in social sciences is better than in science, technology, engineering and mathematics but still falls short of equality, according to an Academy of Social Sciences report.

Published this week and titled ‘Equality, diversity and inclusion in the social sciences’, the report says women occupy 45 per cent of senior positions in the social sciences, and 36 per cent of professor roles.
