Engineer wins first Olympic gold

John Armitt, the engineer responsible for delivering the London 2012 Olympic Games infrastructure, has won a new engineering prize recognising exceptional projects.

Armitt, chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), becomes the first recipient of the Royal Academy of Engineering Major Projects Award.
