Fracking ok – with rigorous monitoring

The UK can effectively manage the health and environmental risks of extracting shale gas if best operational practices are enforced through regulation, says an expert review study.

The Royal Society and the Royal Academy of Engineering reviewed the scientific and engineering evidence on managing shale gas extraction in the UK at the request of John Beddington, the government’s chief scientific adviser.
