MPs miss data mining point, says Wellcome

The Wellcome Trust has said it is disappointed that the Commons Business, Innovation and Skills Committee has highlighted a publisher-licensing model as a way of facilitating data mining.

The BIS committee published its response to the May 2011 Hargreaves review on intellectual property. The review recommended that a copyright exemption for non-commercial research should be introduced to facilitate data mining—a view backed by the Trust.
