Cancer Research UK has awarded a number of prizes to pioneering researchers who have contributed to the fight against cancer.
The winners honoured at an award ceremony on 4 November included Bruce Ponder, an oncologist at the University of Cambridge. Ponder received a lifetime achievement in cancer research prize for his work, which identified genes that make some people more predisposed to the long-term illness.
Ponder shared the limelight with Nitzan Rosenfeld from the University of Cambridge and Ivan Ahel from the University of Oxford, who each won a Future Leaders in Cancer Research prize awarded to early-career researchers.
