Royal Society announces industrial fellows

The Royal Society has awarded eight industrial fellowships, designed to boost collaboration between industry and academia.

The scheme funds academic scientists who wish to work on a collaborative project with industry or scientists in industry. A basic salary for the researcher and a contribution towards research costs is provided.

Hywel Jones from the Materials and Engineering Research Institute at Sheffield Hallam University has been granted a fellowship to develop lightweight ceramic armour material with ceramic-composites company XeraCarb.
