The Wellcome Trust and the Edinburgh International Film Festival have outlined plans for an Ideas Lab to help Scottish screenwriters “immerse themselves” in biomedical research during this year’s festival.
At the lab, Scottish-born or based writers and directors will be introduced to academics and taken through the latest scientific developments in the hope of inspiring film ideas.
Simon Chaplin, director of culture and society at the trust, said the Ideas Lab presented a rare opportunity for writers to make connections with researchers.
