Cancer research labs in Oxford, Manchester and Cambridge have been relaunched by Cancer Research UK as hubs for the charity’s national network of 15 research centres, each receiving an initial £5-million funding boost.
CRUK’s network has a strong emphasis on translational research—moving diagnostics or treatments into clinical application—and the three freshly minted Major Centres will all maintain this focus.
The Oxford centre, which is a partnership between CRUK, the University of Oxford and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, will extend its work in computer sciences and big data.
