UKCDS hires Oxford innovator as next head

Fiona Reid, the director of the Oxford Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Saïd Business School, has been named as the next director of the UK Collaborative on Development Sciences.

Reid was announced as director of the UKCDS, a group of 14 government departments and international development research funders, on 1 June, and will take up the role at the end of August. She succeeds Andrée Carter, who retired at the end of last year after seven years leading the organisation.

At the Oxford centre Reid worked with both government and private companies on technology transfer strategies. She also teaches at London Business School and University College London. Reid began her working life as a science journalist.
