Arts Council cuts London funding to support the regions

Arts Council England is to boost arts and culture in the regions by investing £170 million in arts organisations outside London.

The Midlands will see the biggest regional increase in the number of organisations that are supported in the Arts Council’s National Portfolio, from 91 proposals in the years 2015-18 to 129 during the period 2018-22, the organisation announced in a report published on 27 June.

London remains at the top of the National Portfolio with 12 additional organisations being funded in 2018-22, bringing the total to 253.
