Change still needed in health research governance

There has been significant progress in improving the regulation and governance of health research in the UK since 2010, but difficulties remain, according to a report from the Academy of Medical Sciences.

On 16 June, the AMS published an account of a meeting it held on the regulation and governance of health research, five years on from its report on A New Pathway for the Regulation and Governance of Health Research.

Leading figures in UK medical research attended the workshop in November 2016, which was co-sponsored by the Wellcome Trust and Cancer Research UK.
