Plans by G20 leaders to prioritise infectious disease outbreaks, the effects of climate change on health and drug-resistant infections have been welcomed by Jeremy Farrar, director of the Wellcome Trust.
Farrar said that all these areas had been on Wellcome’s list of priorities for some time, in a blog post published on 10 July.
These continuing and widespread issues are “now getting paid the attention they deserve” after sustained campaigning from the Wellcome Trust, he said.
