National Archives to be modernised

The National Archives has signed an agreement with the higher education ICT organisation Jisc to modernise its services with improved research and citing functions.

Work on the archives will take place between 2017 and 2019, Jisc announced in a press release on 8 September.

A spokesman for Jisc told Research Fortnight that the two organisations would blend the Discovery service provided by the National Archives, which lists hundred of archives nationwide but does not provide detailed information on them, with Jisc’s Archives Hub, which provides a detailed description of what is in each archive.
