Dementia research gets £250m boost

Alzheimer’s Research UK has pledged to commit £250 million to dementia research by 2025.

The money will be used to support the UK Dementia Research Institute, which has centres at the University of Cambridge, Cardiff University, the University of Edinburgh, Imperial College London, King’s College London and University College London, and the charity’s Drug Discovery Institutes.

It will also fund the development of what the charity calls “a global platform to support much earlier diagnosis of diseases like Alzheimer’s” and develop “new initiatives to bolster later-stage drug discovery efforts”.
