Inaugural head chosen for data ethics centre

Mathematician and social scientist Alan Wilson has been appointed executive chairman of the Ada Lovelace Institute, the UK’s first institute for data ethics.

Wilson is currently head of the Alan Turing Institute, the national institute for data science and artificial intelligence. He will lead the Lovelace institute during its 18-month development phase.

He was formerly professor of urban and regional systems at University College London’s Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis.
