Charity ditches translational research in favour of ‘broader range of disciplines’ for £1.1bn annual spend
The Wellcome Trust is radically overhauling how it distributes £1.1 billion a year, channelling money away from translational work and towards a “more diverse” pool of researchers.
“This is a critical moment in shaping the future of Wellcome and our commitment to addressing some of the urgent health challenges we face,” said the charity’s director Jeremy Farrar as he unveiled the change of direction on 20 October.
