Survey ‘makes clear that our membership does not reflect wider society’ says CEO Paul Hardaker
A report has laid bare the underrepresentation of women and Black, Asian and ethnic minority scientists among the 23,000 members of the Institute of Physics, the professional body and learned society for physics in the UK and Ireland.
The 15 October report, based on a survey of its members, says that only 17 per cent of the institute’s current membership is female and 8 per cent from BAME backgrounds.
