National academies suggest ‘probing amendments’ to Aria bill

   

Academies want ring-fenced R&D funding, inclusion of humanities and clear definition of ‘invention’

The UK’s four national academies have listed a range of outstanding questions about the planned Advanced Research and Invention Agency and have offered detailed amendments to the government’s bill to create it.

A document published by the academies on 12 April offers a list of “probing amendments that could be used to seek further clarification” on more than a dozen major questions they have about the bill.
