Royal Society of Biology urges Nusrat Ghani to protect funding amid concerns of possible cuts

The Royal Society of Biology has urged science minister Nusrat Ghani to commit to ring-fencing the money set aside for association to the EU’s R&D funding scheme or UK alternatives.

In a letter to the newly appointed science minister published on 7 October, the learned society called on Ghani (pictured) to ensure the money promised in last year’s spending review for UK membership to Horizon Europe—the EU’s £83.8 billion (€95.5bn) R&D funding scheme—is not spent elsewhere by the government.
