Academy of Medical Sciences president says more needs to be done for future pandemic preparedness

The UK was unprepared for the Covid-19 pandemic due to “disinvestment in public health and diagnostic capability”, according to the president of the Academy of Medical Sciences.

In an interview to mark her second anniversary as president, Anne Johnson (pictured), a professor of infectious disease epidemiology, said “we were not as prepared for an event like this as we thought”.
