Charity ploughs more than half a billion dollars into Wellcome Leap to “take bigger risks”
A spinoff fund launched by the Wellcome Trust in 2020 to deliver breakthroughs in global health has had its budget more than doubled to over half a billion dollars.
Wellcome Leap is modelled on the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, a government body in the United States designed to deliver technological breakthroughs for the military. The Leap’s tagline is “a global Arpa for health”.
