British Heart Foundation overhauls grant processes

Charity to introduce bias awareness and demand grantees consider diversity in their clinical trials

The British Heart Foundation has promised an overhaul of its research-funding processes as part of a push to create a more inclusive cardiovascular research community.

The charity said it would make it a condition that research it funds gives “appropriate consideration to increasing diversity within clinical trials” as part of a package of measures outlined in an equality strategy published on 30 May.
