Research charities take £260m funding hit due to Covid

    

Two-year decline follows seven-year growth, with many charities not expecting to recover until 2024

The pandemic caused funding from medical research charities to drop by £260 million between 2019 and 2021—a fall of 28 per cent—according to new data published by the Association of Medical Research Charities.

Since Covid-19 hit, such charities have seen their incomes plummet as fundraising activities were curtailed, leading to significant concerns over the impact on the research sector.
