Wellcome appoints John-Arne Røttingen as chief executive

Norwegian global health leader to take up role in January 2024, succeeding Jeremy Farrar

UK health-research funder Wellcome has appointed John-Arne Røttingen as the charity’s new chief executive.

Røttingen, who is currently Norway’s foreign ambassador for global health, succeeds Jeremy Farrar, who left Wellcome in February 2023 to become chief scientist at the World Health Organization.
