Charity identifies cancer research funding gap of up to £2bn

Cancer Research UK official calls on Treasury to release more funds for R&D

The Treasury needs to invest more in cancer research to avoid a looming funding gap of at least £1 billion over the next decade, according to the director of policy at Cancer Research UK.

In a blogpost first posted on 13 December, CRUK’s Owen Jackson called on the current and next government to work with his organisation to increase funding. If it does not, a £1bn gap is likely to open up because of the cost of living crisis and higher inflation, with expenses such as energy bills and salaries increasing, Jackson said.
