Institution says it is first independent museum to receive research organisation status
The Arts and Humanities Research Council has given the Design Museum independent research organisation status, allowing it to compete with universities for UK Research and Innovation grant funding.
It is the first time an independent museum has been awarded Independent Research Organisation status, the museum has said.
