Hands-on science work falls short of school students’ expectations

Survey also reveals decreasing interest in science, especially among girls

Secondary school students are keen to learn more about science and engineering through hands-on experimental work, but less time is available in the school curriculum for practical lessons, a survey has found.

The study commissioned jointly by the Royal Society and Engineering UK looked at attitudes towards science subjects of school students in academic years 7-11.
